2009 CYS/Hudson Valley Philharmonic Concerto Competitions

The Hudson Valley Philharmonic Virtuoso-In-Progress (HVP-VIP) and College-Youth Symphony (CYS) competitions were held on Saturday, November 7, 2009. Congratulations to everyone for their wonderful performances. We wish to announce the winners of both competitions:

HVP-VIP Competition:

• Daniel Parette, clarinet
• Rachel Susser, flute

CYS Competition:

• James Conte, clarinet

Honorable Mention - alphabetical order (to be presented in the Winners' Recital on February 16, 2010 with competition winners):

• Brandon Codrington, cello
• Jeffrey Girton, violin
• Rachel Perfecto, oboe

Competition winners will perform in the following concerts:

• HVP-VIP Competition: Solo performances with the HVP at the Young People's Concerts (Marietta Cheng, conductor, Spring 2010)
• CYS Competition: Solo Performances with the College-Youth Symphony (May 2, 2010)

Winners' Recital: The winners of both competitions and the finalists will be presented in a recital on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 7 p.m. in Parker Theatre.
